the garden centre is set in fabulous woodlands a great deal of work as created a natural habitat for the wildlife and created a lovely setting for the garden centre
The coffee shop is on site but not part of greenhills garden centre
it is run as a charitable fund raising vehicle for the Portland college a disabled college that works to get the less abled back into work with their great support and professional skills
the cafe does employ volunteers to help with catering and ensure most of the profits go to the charity
as such we do need to make some allowances on service it is not a Michelin starred location just honest decent food and service with a charity at its heart

First visit to greenhills since the garden centre moved from cauldwell road and have to say I was very disappointed. We had lunch and although the food itself was nice the customer service was very poor. When eating out i have come to expected service with a smile but found staff to be unfriendly and unprofessional. Having placed an order and taken a seat i was shouted to from accross the room and asked if i wanted my quiche hot or cold.. I would much prefer to have been approached and asked at my table! On finishing a meal i have also come to expect the table to be cleared ( i find this to be the case at other establishments ) but here i found myself eating dessert surrounded by dirty plates. Having ordered two servings of cake ( for which i was overcharged! ) i was handed them on 1 plate!! I shall not be returning. All in all a very unpleasant experience!
