Pieris 'Forest Flame'

A choice evergreen shrub with spectacular spring foliage and beautiful white flowers reminiscent of Lily of the valley, in April and May. These flowers contrast beautifully with the glossy bright red new spring shoots that gradually change through pink shades to pale yellow before turning green in late summer. Forest Flame is a slow growing evergreen that more than deserves its RHS accreditation as ‘a plant of outstanding excellence for ordinary garden decoration’ – Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

There are however a wide range of other, very decorative Pieris including the deep pink variety ‘Valley Valentine’, variegated forms such as ‘Flaming Silver’ and ‘Little Heath, even more prolific flowering varieties such as ‘Purity’ and the larger growing Pieris ‘Wakehurst’ and all of these come with an AGM!

Grow in partial or dappled shade, sheltered from cold north and east winds and in a lime-free soil. If you do not have lime-free conditions Pieris will do well in containers and planters if kept moist and regularly fed, with ericaceous feed.
