Plant of the week: Patio Rose

'The Patio Rose' is a modern term for a group of smaller roses, typically between 45 cm (18") and 60cm (24") that cannot be beaten for sheer numbers of flowers. They come in a huge range of colours and generally flower throughout the season. They make both an ideal container plant and are also great at the front of a border or for mass planting - simply dead head throughout the summer and prune back hard once a year in winter to encourage new shoots. Feed and water well, especially when grown in containers.
