New basket fuchsia sees light of day9 September 2011
A new white fuchsia is set to cause excitement among enthusiasts.
Fuchsia ‘Roualeyn White Gold, from Roualeyn Nursery at Conwy, North Wales, was exhibited for the first time at the Shrewsbury Flower Show in Shropshire last month.
“It is a novel white basket fuchsia with beautiful pink tips to the stamens, said the firm’s Colin Roualeyn. “It’s also unusual in that it has lime green leaves. And as the plant has really short stems between its joints, it will always keep tight and dense.”
Colin said the fuchsia had attracted “tremendous interest” at the Shrewsbury show.
He expects that the new variety will be a winner with exhibitors. “It has a high profusion of blooms, which means it will display well on the show bench,” Colin added.
Cuttings will be available in batches of six from spring, priced at around £12. For more details ring (01492) 640548, or visit www.roualeynfuchsias.co.uk
