This used to be a garden centre, not any more. Is just full of chintzy stuff and would you believe, when asking for onion sets, shallots etc I was told that it was something they do not do. It's a garden centre for people who wouldn't want to get their hands dirty, or should i say a coffee shop with a few plants! Heard not very nice things about the management, who clearly don't have a clue. The seeds area was relegated to a dimly lit corner in favour of all the 'designer' household tat, breaking every law on commercial premises being accessible for the visually impaired, as I am. The place has lost its soul.........................

We have been visiting Silverbirch for the past 25 yrs and have seen it improve on each decade. The plants have always been top quality with a great selection. Their selection in plant pots are the best i've seen in Scotland from contempory to traditional styles.
The tea room has improved greatly if not abit small but i think this adds to the family run buisness. Some of their staff have been there for 15yrs...so that says something!
The biggest impact has been the home interiors side of the garden centre with a wide range of styles and choices and changes each season....take note West end of Glasgow you have alot to live up too!
The staff in general will just leave you to potter around and are helpfull if need of assistance.
The only downside is the carpark which is on a hill and could do with a bit of attention.
All in all the best garden centre in Lanark.

Can't understand the dodgy reviews below - check out Tripadvisor for more balanced reviews. And since most reviews cover the very good coffee shop, and I can't really add anything to them, here are some comments on the garden centre and shop.
We have bought plants from Silverbirch for about 4 years now and quality is consistently good at good value prices. Always our first choice garden centre when looking for plants. Terracotta planters are normally excellent value.
The shop is mainly "home" products rather than "garden" but as with the plants a wide and tasteful selection at good prices.
Friendly staff make it a good shopping experience.
Minor grumble is the car parking area, but a drop off and loading point is handily placed.
