We sometimes call here for lunch on a Monday and I usually have the quiche, with chips, salad and coleslaw. It’s very colourful and tasty. I believe they do a different quiche each day. Today when we went there for lunch, we decided to have a change and ordered the Beer Battered Cod. Hubby had it with chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce and a slice of lemon. I love colourful food, especially salads, so had the above, but ordered, salad instead of peas. It almost looked too good to eat, and tasted delicious! The sweets always look tempting but the main course is always substantial, so I’ve never had room for one. We both had a latte with the meal. Our 2 main meals plus 2 latte’s came to a total of £22.50. It’s not surprising this Cafe is very popular at lunch time, the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The garden centre building is worth going around. Apart from the expected goods and farm produce, they also do a super range of comic Birthday cards.

My husband ordered three cappuccinos in the café & we were served with lattes. We told the waitress & she replied that he had ordered lattes. We quickly replied that he had never heard of lattes. She said that there wasn't much difference anyway. She came back with the cappuccinos which were only slightly warm. We decided to give up at this point & when my husband told the waitress that the drinks weren't hot she touched the coffee machine & said that they had come from there & that was hot. Her attitude was very bad & we will be reluctant to visit there again.

First of all the garden centre is ok. We called at the cafe at 10:30am. Several tables were reserved. All the ones by radiators and windows. They often are. As it was a very cool day it would have been nice to sit by a radiator to have a warm snack and cup of tea before going to do our shopping in the centre itself. The reservations are for lunchtime, so why put reserved on lots of tables so early in the day? Imagine if the cafe had been full at that time in the morning customers would have been turned away and would not have visited the main shopping area of the garden centre. I thing it is time someone realised that putting reserved signs 2-3 hours before they are required is bad policy. We went elsewhere.
