We visited the garden centre for the first time today, even though we are local it has not been on our agenda to go. However ,after a lot of research we decided to get some trees and shrubs to bulk out our garden. With a two year old and a baby in a pushchair and it being a hot day we thought it was wise to try out the restaurant for refreshments first and plastered on A4 paper just about everywhere the instruction was to take a seat and wait for service. We waited ten minutes at least in the sun and had two waitresses ignore us, I decided we should leave and asked one of the ladies that ignored us on the way out why it was that we had been ignored to which she replied that I should have gone to the counter if I wanted to be served! We will never go back especially as we were planning on spending a disgusting amount of money in the garden centre , it is not our loss at all. If it is run as a separate business I would consider the impact of the service on all business on the land.

Very disappointing visit today. Have been a regular visitor to Gdn car and The Olive Tree Restaurant for years but the service in the latter was non existent today. 30 mins to take our drinks order; by which time we were more than ready to place our food order. A further 35 mins later our food arrived - but still no drinks. So we asked for our drinks again and whilst they arrived after another 10 mins wait, there was no caring apology. There appeared to be sufficient staff but they all appeared to be ‘busy doing nothing’ and we weren’t the only complainants today. Shame, as this took some polish off my wife’s birthday. After using this cafe/restaurant for 16 years, I will really have to think twice before using it again. Such a shame things have have fallen this far. Please improve your service. Your food remains good but I agree with the comments from others re: cakes in the public area left uncovered. The food hygiene rating won’t be maintained if you continue with that practice.

Have been frequent regular very satisfied customer since opening but will no longer be buying cakes scones etc since new central aisle displays these uncovered. Now exposed to coughs sneezes & handling. Very very disappointed as are numerous friends.
