I took my 9 year old daughter for lunch yesterday to the garden centre to cheer her up as she was poorly. I was charged £17 for a jacket potato with one topping and a macaroni cheese in a very small shallow bowl with blackened carrots. Plus a tea and juice. When I asked for a child size reduction, I was abruptly told that adults didn't always want all the vegetables so why should they give a lower rate for a child. My jacket potato was rotten and I returned it for a refund in a polite manner. The staff kept referring to me as 'her' and talked to eachother about me whilst I was standing in front of them. I had no apology for my jacket potato or offer of replacement. I sat whilst my daughter ate her meal, whilst being hungry myself. I will never go back to a place with rude staff, no customer service, expensive and awful food.

Before today I would have agreed with the above review, I have visited this centre and used the café many times over the past few years. However, today in the café I had a meal - perfectly good food except for the long black hair caught in my potato. Now this can happen of course, so I quietly took my plate (almost finished but not quite) to the counter and showed the lady there. A man was there as well, they said "Oh sorry" in a fairly disinterested way and took my plate.. I expected a bit more concern, it was pretty horrible to find the hair and I hadn't quite finished my meal. At the checkout I started to ask the lady if the café was part of the centre or a franchise when the man from before said "I said sorry, this is just one of a thousand things every week." I would describe his attitude as confrontational, I immediately walked out as I am CUSTOMER and don't go out for an argument. Plenty of other garden centres where they understand customer service and good manners.

Plenty of space in the car park. Always has good bedding plants and shrubs.Well displayed and good advice given. Normal garden centre wares such as furniture, greeting cards and clothes, well displayed and not over done. Café / restaurant provides good food and drink and is very comfortable to be in ,good value. Nice garden space for summer use. Childrens play area is available. Definitely a place to visit many times.
