Once a charming little nursery, now bought by David Pearce of Pearce Construction AKA Bartlett's Country Stores. He has proceeded to turn the whole rural area into a massive construction site with acres of hard core where there were once green fields and a huge metal shed the size of an aircraft hanger. Absolute shame for everyone in the surrounding area ! What were Teignbridge Planning office thinking?? I have stopped using them.....I suggest everyone follow suit.

Orchard Nurseries is not the usual impersonal big 'commercial' garden centre with hundreds of identical plants, but a smaller well-run establishment where the service is excellent. John, the owner, is very knowledgeable, full of helpful advice and nothing is too much trouble. There is a wide range of fruit-trees, shrubs, rockery plants, seeds, bulbs, cacti, gardening tools, composts, plus pet supplies from hamsters to horses. Orchard Nurseries is well worth a visit. It reminds me of a visit to the old-fashioned hardware shop where you could find everything you needed tucked away somewhere as opposed to a trip to a modern impersonal hardware store where everything is pre-packaged and nobody knows what you're looking for! There's no 'shi-shi' cafe with inflated prices and stale food - just genuine down-to-earth products for the keen gardener (even fork-handles!). This gem of a nursery is well worth the trip to find it. Highly recommended - always my first port of call.
