I have been visiting Wood Cottage for over 10 years now and the majority of my gardens are filled with plants from here apart from Annuals which they doesn’t sell , it is a wonderful nursery with Roger the owner being full of knowledge, with a huge selection of all common and many uncommon perennials, shrubs and a fantastic selection of Clematis. We have purchased some beautiful harder to get hold of varieties over the years including some stunning Chinese Peony you just don’t see these things in any of the larger chains.. the one thing that Roger cannot be beaten on is price in fact I can’t think of the prices really going up over the last 10 years - Still the bargain £1.50 selection of perennials but some larger and more select plants in 3 litre pots come in dearer, we have seen the same plants at other garden centres when buying hardware at almost anything between 3 and 5 times the price !! I shake my head when I see these people with trolleys paying hundreds of pounds when they could go to Rogers.. if you love plants then it is a must.. remember cash or cheque only this is one of the ways roger keeps the prices down without having to subside Card Payments and having machines etc.. happy planting everyone

This is without a doubt one of the few TRUE nurseries left in this area if not in the south of England. Try finding this selection anywhere with a fancy building and check outs! You are only paying for the plants not the managing directors fancy car, house & holidays. Sadly most of the "chain" nurseries also only carry what they THINK we want and what they can make most money from - if that's what these people want then they are welcome to go elsewhere - it gives the rest of us more time to enjoy.
