The selection of pots and plants and garden ornaments are excellent. When they have sale bargains these are good. Some shrubs are very expensive but you can normally get what you are looking for. Extremely wide range of Christmas trees and reasonably priced. Christmas lights and ornaments excellent. Very good range of garden utensils. However, most of the staff are uncommunicative, often verging on rude and unwelcoming. When I first shopped at the centre I thought that the staff were just 'not nice' to me but speaking to other people they seem to have similar experiences. A few members of staff greet with a smile always but they do not seem to be the ones in positions of power. I could easily go there every week and buy something if the atmosphere at the till was better. Read less

Used to visit with my dad in the 70's, and after a huge hiatus (about 40 years!), went back this summer to find it's expanded hugely. I found the staff quite friendly and helpful, and a nice man helped me get my bags of compost into the car as my husband and I can't manage it. Good selection of plants, though not of the things I was looking for, like mini-pond marginals, oxygenating plants and ordinary terracotta flower pots in "potting on" sizes. I think I've cleaned them out of the most useful sizes of pots, which I need mainly for cuttings and for next year's parade of pelargonia. Plastic pots will never be as good as clay for cuttings, especially as the weather gets colder. It would be nice if the supply of pots could be kept up through the autumn and winter for people to continue nurturing plants and cuttings under cover, as we pensioners can't afford to buy ready grown plants all the time. Besides, growing from cuttings is immensely satisfying. Read less

I agree that many staff are miseries but occasionally there is a smiling face. The plants are mostly good quality and successful in the garden and there is a reasonable range for a local centre. I asked for a repeat of a bug spray I had purchased from the nursery last year. It had run out. However, I was told I'd not bought the best product to rid my box hedges of the challenging moth. I went along with the advice given, followed the instruction and within 48hours had utterly killed off the box hedges. Previously I'd been shaking the caterpillars off them daily and still had the vast majority of green foliage but wanted to ensure I won the battle. Listening to & following advice has sadly lost it. Take care. Read less
