Plant of the week: Sedum (Iceplant)

Ice Plant - Sedum spectabile

The Ice Plant is one of the finest plants ever introduced to our gardens. They provide us with magnificent light pink flower heads in August and September, changing to salmon and fading to russet in November. These flowers are one of the best sources of nectar for late bees and butterflies.

Plants are easy to grow and reach a height between 45cm (18") to 60cm (2ft) depending on variety. Look out for the varieties 'Autumn Joy' (AGM) and 'Brilliant' (AGM) as well as variegated or dark leaf forms.
