Rose sprays beat bifenthrin ban

GARDEN PRODUCTS giant Scotts Miracle-Gro has rolled out new rose care products - to replace bug busters due to be lost by the EU-wide ban on chemical ingredient bifenthrin. Popular sprays RoseClear3 and RoseClear3 Gun! contained bifenthrin and garden centres will not be allowed to sell either product after 30 May.

Gardeners, however, will have 12 months, until 30 May 2011, to use up any stock of these products that they already own. Two replacement products are now in garden centres: RoseClear for Bugs (containing concentrated acetamiprid) and RoseClear4 Gun! (a ready-to-use mix of sulphur and fatty acids).

Scotts said the loss of bifenthrin would not affect the RoseClear brand and said new products were "already on store shelves."
