Plant of the Week; Corylus

The contorted or corkscrew hazel can be quite a conversation piece with curiously twisted branches growing slowly to reach 3m in height. These become a feature when seen dripping with yellow catkins in late January and February.

They are completely hardy grow in a wide range of soil types, including chalk, and will survive both full sun and partial shade.
