Nothing says Valentines like a floral bouquet
But of course no Valentine’s Day would be complete without a floral bouquet from your local flower shop. Florists are on hand to advise you on seasonal, British-grown flowers and design your perfect combination. So make sure you make the most of friendly staff! Pick your flowers with care, though, as they sometimes mean more than you realise! According to the Victorian ‘language of flowers’, each bloom carries its own message.
Flower selection is important - tread carefully!
True romantics should include red tulips or daisies: both mean ‘I love you truly’. Apple blossoms, pansies and honeysuckle all speak of devotion and affection; violets stand for faithfulness; and lily of the valley symbolises the return of happiness. But beware of including white roses – ‘I cannot’ – or poppies – ‘I am not free’ – or you might not get quite the response you were intending!
