To support the local economy I like to shop locally, especially shopping at local and family businesses rather than national businesses which, whilst offering local employment, take money out of the local economy by centralising their profits. I found two local garden centres. The first one does not even sell electrical garden equipment! What? A garden centre surely sells garden stuff including tools! Then, I called Crawley Garden Centre because I could not find anything on their website under 'grass trimmer'. I learned that they sell only Flymo products. How does this offer choice to customers? Nevertheless, I researched Flymo trimmers, but then, I could not find Flymo on their website either! Surely a website enables us to research before travelling an otherwise wasted journey. I called again - several times but, no-one answered the phone. Well, I tried! Is it any wonder consumers go to Homebase and B&Q?

Having recently visited the Crawley Garden Centre on the Copthorne Road I wasn't overly impressed. To gain access to the centre you have a long walk from the car park which isn't particularly well signed if you're a necomer to it. Staff were hard to find when needed. The cashiers were busy chatting amongst themselves and didn't acknowledgment my existence at the check-out point until I interrupted them. On the bright side the mix and quality of products were generally very good. Hopefully the staff will get their act together soon! OVERALLL A RATHER DISAPPOINTING VISIT.
