Forest Lodge Garden Centre is adjacent to Birdworld and Garden Style. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 5.30pm except for Sundays when it opens at 10am, this place has it all, a treasure house of a departmental store specialising in garden plants, garden furniture, tools and equipment of course, but also selling tempting many quality household items, toys and books and a lot more besides. You could spend a long time at Forest Lodge Garden Centre just looking around and discovering things for sale that you didn’t know you needed. We did just that, and also bought some potted shrubs that were gift wrapped for us as presents for friends. But it is the splendid restaurant that warrants special mention. Opening times allow for late breakfast, lunch and early tea but you can dine at any time. It even has a carvery with excellent meat for that blow-out lunch. Parking is no problem and with Birdworld next door, you could easily make a day of it here.

This garden centre has not improved with the mega money put into expansion. There may be a good selection of plants and garden items but you must be the most expensive garden centre in the south of England! Make the public pay for a "super" garden centre. The cafe was never very good. Uncomfortable chairs and the food was mediocre. Yes, there is more space now to sit in the cafe but the food hasn't improved in quality. There is more choice. As a previous review said, 1/2 a pot of water in a teapot and being refused a top up or a pot of extra hot water. I have experienced that too. The tea isn't anything special. Neither is the coffee. The prices are expensive. The staff are rude. The family helpful atmosphere has gone. I go to other garden centres now and have a pleasant time with a decent meal, cuppa and friendly helpful staff. You need to review in every aspect. Do I recommend you, definitely not.

I took a family party of twelve people to lunch at Forest Lodge on Monday 28 December and I should like to record warm appreciation of the arrangements made on our behalf. We had a superb lunch and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Forest Lodge. I should like my warm thanks to be conveyed to the staff concerned.
